Injured Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of Champions Trophy 2025
Mumbai/IBNS: In a massive jolt to the Indian cricket team, pace bowling sensation Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the Champions Trophy 2025 owing to injury.
Bumrah has been ruled out of the ICC tournament due to lower back injury.
Harshit Rana, who made his One Day International (ODI) debut in the ongoing India-England series, has been picked as Bumrah's replacement.
Bumrah, who suffered the injury in the last Test against Australia in January, underwent two rounds of scans.
Though nothing major has been revealed by the tests, it is learnt that the world's top pacer is yet to recover completely.
Team India have also named Varun Chakaravarthy in the squad. The spinner will replace Yashasvi Jaiswal who was initially named in the provisional squad.
Chakaravarthy also made his ODI debut in the ongoing India-England series.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Siraj and Shivam Dube have been kept as standbys. The three players will travel to Dubai as and when required.
India will take on Bangladesh in their inaugural Champions Trophy match on February 20.
The men-in-blue will take on their arch-rival Pakistan on February 23.
The Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan and UAE from February 19 to March 9.
