'Too many 80s and 90s': Sourav Ganguly regrets missing 'a lot of hundreds' in his career
Kolkata/IBNS: Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has regretted getting dismissed in the 80s and 90s on "too many" occasions denying himself opportunities to slam more international hundreds.
In a recent interview with PTI, Ganguly said, "I missed a lot of hundreds. I should not have done that. Don't know why it happened. I should have scored more hundreds.. too many 80s and 90s."
"I watch my videos at night. My wife goes to London a lot because Sana (Sourav Ganguly's daughter) is there so when I remain alone or sometimes in bed, I watch my hundreds on YouTube. It feels good. I say to myself 'gosh I got dismissed at 70. I should not have gone out at that time'. Then it can't be changed," the ex-BCCI president added.
The cricket great, who scored over 18,000 international runs, slammed 38 centuries in his illustrious career.
In the same interview, Ganguly has revealed his interest to coach Team India if given an opportunity.
Ganguly said he slipped into multiple roles since retirement so "never really thought about it".
"I never really thought about it (coaching the Indian team) because I got into different roles. I finished in 2013 and then became Board (BCCI) President. We’ll see what the future holds. I’m just 50, so let’s see what happens. I’m open to it. We’ll see where it goes," he said.
The southpaw who made his debut in international cricket in 1992, retired in 2008.
He last played in the cash-rich T20 tournament IPL last in 2012.
