CEO, CS, DGP continues visiting districts to review law and order situation

In continuation to visit to districts to ensure zero post-poll violence and smooth conduct of counting of polled votes, the   Chief Secretary JK Sinha along with Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) , Tripura, Kiran Gitte and DGP Amitabh Ranjan on Thursday visited Khowai district of the state  and reviewed the law and order situation.

CEO, Gitte along with Chief Secretary, DGP and Additional DGP Saurav Tripathi arrived at the abundant Khowai airport through a chopper and rushed to Khowai Duk bungalow , where they had attended a high level meeting with the District Magistrate (Khowai) D K Chakma, SP Ratiranjan Debnath, SDMP(Khowai) Bijoy Sinha, SDM of Teliamura Abhijit Chakraborty and other top police and security officials of the district.

Sources said that during the meeting CEO highlighted the strict guidelines framed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to conduct counting of votes and has also reviewed the present law and order situation of the district.

During these meetings, CEO Gitte had detailed discussions that the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI) should be followed strictly for smooth completion of the counting process.

Later, speaking with media persons Gitte said that all DMs and SPs of all eight districts of the state have been asked to conduct meetings with political parties, candidates and election agents in presence of DM, SP and Returning Officer (RO).

He said that massive security arrangements will be made for the counting of polled votes and to maintain the law and order situation before and after the counting process.

Gitte added that very soon the counting observers are expected to be deputed by the ECI and they will start arriving in the state from February 28 next.

The CEO also said that their team will visit other districts of the state before the counting to ensure strict implication of all guidelines framed by the ECI to maintain law and order.

Earlier, on Tuesday the CEO with the Chief Secretary and DGP had also visited North Tripura district and on Thursday visited South Tripura ,Gomati and Sepahijala districts  reviewed the law and order situation.

It may be recalled here that the counting of votes of 60 assembly constituencies will be held in 21 counting locations across the state on March 2nd next.
