CEO with CS, DGP visits North Tripura to review law and order situation
The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) , Tripura, Kiran Gitte along with chief secretary J K Sinha and DGP Amitabh Ranjan visited North Tripura district on Tuesday and reviewed the law and order situation.
They had a meeting in the Circuit House, where DM(North) Nagesh Kumar B and SP (North) Kiran Kumar along with other officials were present and reviewed the situation.
Sources said that the CEO instructed the officials to keep close watch round the clock to ensure that nobody can create any disturbances and no post-poll violence would be tolerated.
Gitte said the visit was to review the post-poll law and order situation of the district. He said the administration is taking all necessary steps to ensure peace during the counting of voters on March 2 next. He confidently said the counting of votes will pass off peacefully and a massive security arrangement has also been ensured by Election Commission of India (ECI) with three tier security arrangements across all strong rooms.
Gitte said that despite some stray incidents, the overall law and order situation in North Tripura is under control. He admitted that post-election violence had happened in North Tripura and the administration had taken all possible steps to control the law and order situation across Tripura.
