CM unveils Maharaja Bir Bikram's statue at ‘zero’ point

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday  unveiled the statue of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya  in the island near Kaman Choumuhani area of Agartala and renamed the island after the last king of the state, where the ‘zero’ point of the state starts.

After unveiling the statue , the Chief Minister said it is recognition of the historic fact that the buildings around the place were constructed during the king's  time and for his initiative. The island was earlier known as ‘Sarala More’. Unveiling the statue in the island is very significant as the island is considered as the zero point of Agartala. With the installation of the statue ,the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has also renovated the island and reduced its radius to ensure easy movement of traffic.

AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder also spoke on the occasion and said the Agartala Municipal Corporation is committed to continue its effort to improve the living condition of the city and beatification of the city.

The Chief Minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s  aim is to move forward for the ultimate programme with progress of all sections of society  and all the steps of the present government are going on in this direction.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated three other projects including flood drainage pump at Grandiose Club and  inauguration of three bus stops and shelters  located at UK Academy, IGM Chowmuhani and  Nandannagar virtually and all these projects were constructed by Agartala Smart City Limited and AMC. Dr Saha also said that the BJP- IPFT alliance government is making sure that all due respect is given to the indigenous people while the CPI(M) led government  always deprives them.

There are 49 departments and a total of almost Rs 5000 crore has been allotted for the development of indigenous people in the state. The state government wants to move forward with people from different communities together but there are many who try to play divide and rule but these things won't be successful.

Dr Saha further said the BJP-IPFT alliance has proved themselves through their work and will do the same for the people of the state. He also gave the example of the peaceful election which took place in February  and added that the miscreants and other parties tried their level best to create one or two issues and defame the effort of the BJP- IPFT alliance government. However, he said  proper action has been taken against miscreant activities.

He added that the ruling party was confident about its second government  as they have worked for the people of the state. The Chief Minister  gave due credit to the women of the state as 3 percent extra votes were casted by them and also said that G-20 Summit can be a game changer for the tourism sector of the state.
