Efforts are being made for production of quality cow feed in the state: ARDD Minister

The present government has taken up initiative for production of quality cow feed in the state itself.

Unused government land, forest area and government farms will be utilised for production of the cow feed, enunciated Animal Resources Development Minister Sudhangshu Das after inaugurating Insulated Road Milk Tanker of 5,000 litre capacity at Gomati Dairy premises today. With the help of these tankers, it will be possible to carry milk from Bulk Milk Coolers (BMC) to 4 Degree Celsius. Gomati Co-operative Milk Producers Union Limited will be implementing this.

ARDD Minister in the inaugural programme said, according to a survey of 2022-23, there is shortage of about 85,000 MT milk in the state. In order to meet the demand, the farmers of the state must be encouraged to rear cows in a healthy manner. Therefore, the government has taken up the initiative for production of quality cow feed in the state itself. He said, about 27 thousand female calves were born in the state under Unnata Godhan Prakalp in order to increase milk production of the state. Dairy buying centres will be set up in all districts of the state so that the farmers get fair prices for their production.

Cooperation Minister Sukla Charan Noatia in the programme said, emphasis has been given presently upon production of more different kinds of dairy products in Gomati Dairy. Work is being done to take dairy services to grassroot level. Director of the ARDD department  said, these insulated tankers have been provided under the National Programme for Dairy Development Grant-In-Aid. He said, there are 2 BMCs – in Melaghar of 5,000 litre and in Kalyanpur of 2,000 litre capacity.

Mayor-in-council  of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Hiralal Debnath, Gomati Co-operative Milk Producers Union Limiter Chairman Samir Das and Principal Secretary of ARDD department B. S. Mishra also spoke on the occasion. Later, the guests waved flags and commenced the journey of the tanker.
