A giant Burmese python was rescued from the house of Abul Khayer in the Bagaiyachar area of Kathalia in Sepahijala district, triggering considerable excitement among local residents.
The python was rescued in the early morning by snake rescuers Asim Majumder and Lokai Dey, associated with the Animal Aid Alliance Welfare Society. The snake was reportedly around 9 feet long and weighed approximately 15 kg.
The rescue operation drew a large crowd, with many residents gathering to catch a glimpse of the unusually large snake. Locals expressed surprise over how such a large Burmese python had entered a densely populated residential area.
The two rescuers have reportedly rescued around 305 snakes from residential areas so far and released them into suitable forest habitats, contributing to the conservation of wildlife and maintaining ecological balance.
The rescue operation was carried out with assistance from Jatrapur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Parthanath Bhowmik and Sub-Inspector (SI) Prosenjit Debnath. The police personnel provided transportation to take the rescuers and the rescued python to Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary, where the snake was subsequently released into the forest.
The incident created a buzz in the area, with a large number of people, including men and women, gathering at the market after the snake was brought there in the morning. Local residents praised the two rescuers for their efforts in safely rescuing the python and releasing it back into its natural habitat.
