Govt to build weekend tourist hub in front of Ujjayanta palace, Sushanta Chowdhury
In order to make a weekend tourism hub in Agartala, the state government has decided to convert the entire front side of Ujjayanta palace into a weekend tourist hub.
Addressing a press conference at Civil Secretariat on Thursday afternoon, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury giving details of state cabinet decisions said that in the proposed tourist hub in front of Ujjayanta palace, the entire areas from square of Sherowali sweets to Jackson gate to square of Orient Chowmuhani area including the frontal areas of Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan will have no-entry zone on every weekend from 4 PM to night 9 PM.
He said that the frontal areas of Ujjayanta palace will be given attractive shape by the Tourism department and on every weekend, the tourists will get the facilities of ‘Dhaba’ food stalls, selfie point, boating at the lakes of ‘Raj Bari’ and there will be cultural evening on every weekend along with light and sound show.
Chowdhury said that a permanent cultural dais will be constructed in front of ‘Raj Bari’.
He said that the state government has decided to make a tourist hub in front of Ujjayanta palace and with these initiatives; the revenue through tourism and employment opportunities to unemployed youths and artists will be generated.
While, the state cabinet has also decided to fill up 146 posts under the Directorate of Land Records and Settlement department of the state government through Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC), said Chaudhury.
He added that among the 146 posts, 6 posts for Assistant Surveyor officers, 10 posts for Kanango, 125 posts for Amin and five more posts for Surveyors. Among these posts, the post of assistant surveyors and Kanango posts are feder posts and these will be filled up by TPSC, said Chowdhury and added that the remaining posts of Amin and Surveyors will be filled up by the department.
Chowdhury also said that the cabinet has also decided that the second session of the 13th Tripura legislative assembly will begin from July 7th next.
