The Agartala city police has achieved a breakthrough in a series of ATM copper wire thefts reported from Kalyani, Ashram Chowmuhani, MBB University and Shivnagar areas and arrested a noted thief and also recovered stolen items.

Police sources said that incidents of copper wire theft from ATMs had been occurring in the areas for some time. Following complaints, East Agartala police station launched an investigation. Based on the investigation, police conducted an operation and detained the accused along with the stolen materials.

Speaking to the media, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of East Agartala police station, Krishnadhan Sarkar provided details of the case. He said police were investigating the detained person’s alleged involvement in the theft incidents. Investigators are also probing whether other individuals are involved in the suspected theft network.

Police believe that questioning the accused could reveal further information about the ATM copper wire thefts and the involvement of others. The investigation is currently underway.
