Police have arrested a thief in connection with the theft at a Kali temple located near Tripura University. The accused has been identified as Ali Hossain, a resident of the Rajnagar area of South Tripura district.
According to police, Ali Hossain was identified after investigators examined CCTV footage related to the temple theft. Acting on the findings of the investigation, Amtali police station arrested him from the Amtali area on Friday.
Speaking to the media on Saturday afternoon, OC of Amtali police station, Rana Chatterjee provided details of the case and said the arrested accused was produced before the court on Saturday, with police seeking his remand for further interrogation.
Police believe that questioning Ali Hossain in custody could reveal additional information and possible leads related to the temple theft. The investigation is continuing.
