Police enforcement drives to intensify, 200 more companies of CAPFs are coming

In order to ensure a peaceful election process, Tripura police has intensified its enforcement measures to maintain law and order.

Amidst many challenges including controlling of drug menaces, cross-border movements of anti-social, providing security of over 300 election candidates along with movements of VVIPs, the state police is also getting success and in the last 30 days of January, they seized contraband items of Rs. 5.89 crore along with seizure of arms and ammunition.

Police sources said that after the announcement of assembly elections on January 18 last, initially 100 companies of Central Arms Police Forces (CAPFs) had arrived in the state and were deployed for extensive coverage of interior areas of the state. Additional 100 companies of CAPFs also reported and were operational by early January and are now deployed in urban areas of the state.

Police sources added that 200 more companies of CAPFs in addition are likely to arrive in the state in the first week of February and these forces will be used for area domination, patrolling, flag march, vehicular patrolling, Naka duty, raids etc along with counter insurgency operations.

After announcement of poll schedules, altogether 192 Naka points have been established and checking is also regularly going on along with special drives for vehicle checking.

Police added that as prevention measures a huge number of prosecution reports have been submitted to bind down habitual offenders and more than 700 PRs were submitted under section-107 of CrPc till date.

Till date, to improve and maintain the sense of security, the state police along with CAPFs have also organized 1700 flag marches and area domination patrolling.

Police sources added that from January 1st to January 30th, the state police along with other security forces have seized, 11,161 dry cannabis (Ganja), Heroin 138 grams, Yaba tablets 12,945, cough syrups 9,600 bottles, IMFL 3850 bottles, country made liquor 25,050 liters, Indian currency Rs. 17 lakh, Bangladesh currency 14,257, two country made guns, one 7.65 mm pistol with 46 live rounds.

Police also said that they will intensify their enforcement drives across the state after the arrival of additional 200 companies of CAPFs.
