Allegations have surfaced against personnel of Bishalgarh police station after police vehicles were reportedly parked on a national highway, leading to traffic congestion and drawing criticism from commuters.

Sources said that due to a shortage of parking space inside the police station premises for the past several months, police vehicles have allegedly been parked along the national highway outside the station. As a result, both passenger vehicles and emergency service vehicles reportedly became stranded on either side of the road because of the obstruction.

What has further raised concern among local residents is that despite the traffic congestion occurring directly in front of the police station’s main gate, no police officials were reportedly seen managing the situation.

Local people and daily commuters have pointed out what they describe as a double standard in traffic enforcement. They alleged that while the police routinely take strict action against members of the public for illegally parking vehicles on national highways, police vehicles themselves were being used to occupy the same stretch of road.

Commuters questioned who would be held accountable if police vehicles were found violating the same rules that are enforced against the public. Many have demanded appropriate action and called for accountability.

A vehicle driver who spoke to the media on Thursday morning highlighted the incident and expressed concern over the inconvenience caused to road users.

It now remains to be seen whether the Superintendent of Police of the district will take cognizance of the matter and initiate any action following the incident.
