In a significant judgement, the District and Session of court of Khowai district on Tuesday sentenced a criminal into life imprisonment for rape to a minor girl under different sections of The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Indian Penal Code (IPC)
Tripura police on Tuesday evening through a press statement said that women Sub-Inspector (SI) Kamala Rani Murasing of Teliamura police station had submitted a charge-sheet on January 20th, 20222 against accused persons Rajendra Malsom (30) of Debthanh Para village under same police station under different sections of POCSO Act and IPC.
The parents of the victim girl registered the FIR at Teliamura police station of on December 11th, 2021 and within a short period the Investigating Officer (IO) of the case submitted the charge-sheet and after prolonged hearing and recording the statements of witnesses, the District and Session of Court of the Khowai district sentenced Rajendra Malsom to rigorous life imprisonment and to pay a fine of Rs. 25,000, in default of payment of fine, accused would have to suffer rigorous imprisonment of six more months.
