Traditional weeklong Kharchi festival concluded

Kharchi festival enriches our art and culture: Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Kharchi Festival strengthens the unity and solidarity between the tribal and non-tribal communities of the state. It enriches our art and culture. Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhowmik said this at the closing ceremony of the traditional Kharchi festival on Sunday.

Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment was present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony. At the closing ceremony, she said that 7 days have passed without notice and the festival has come to an end. We now look forward to next year. The Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment said that our mutual bond is also strengthened in the light of Kharchi Festival. People of different languages and cultures meet here. The Prime Minister of our country also wants to bind our country to the tune of cultural unity. Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to unite not only our country but also the whole world.

At the closing ceremony, the guest of honour Cooperation Minister Shukla Charan Noatia said that the Kharchi is a festival of union of the tribal and non-tribal’s art and culture of our state. As the culture develops through this festival, earning opportunities were also created through the fair. Special guest and Social Worker Rajib Bhattacharjee spoke among others on the occasion. MLA and Chairman of Kharchi Festival Committee Ratan Chakraborty and Vice Chairman of Kharchi Festival Committee Bishwajit Shil gave vote of thanks. District Magistrate of West Tripura district Debapriya Bardhan and Social worker Amit Kumar Nandi were also present at the closing ceremony. Divyangjans meritorious students were given financial support and felicitated in the programme.

Apart from this, the winners of the drawing competition organized by the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs and the Revenue Department were awarded. The participating exhibition stalls were also awarded at the closing ceremony.
