In a joint operation, Assam Rifles and police personnel from NCC police station of Agartala achieved a major breakthrough during a joint operation in the Shalbagan area on Sunday night, recovering two pistols, three magazines and eight rounds of live ammunition. Two persons from Bihar were arrested in connection with the incident.
Acting on a tip-off, Assam Rifles and personnel from the New Capital Complex (NCC) police station conducted an operation in the Shalbagan area, at the outskirts of Agartala. During the operation, two suspected individuals were detained and searched and police recovered two pistols, three magazines and eight rounds of ammunition from their possession.
The two arrested individuals were taken to the NCC police station, where police began questioning them. Investigators are probing the source of the firearms and ammunition and the purpose for which they were allegedly brought to the state.
SDPO (NCC) Subrata Barman said the operation was conducted jointly by Assam Rifles and NCC police. He confirmed that two pistols, three magazines and eight rounds of ammunition were recovered and two persons were arrested.
Police are continuing the investigation to determine whether any other individuals are involved in the case. The recovery of firearms in Shalbagan has created tension in the area.
