In view of the ongoing heavy rainfall and the increasing risk of rain-related hazards, the West Tripura District administration has issued an advisory urging the public not to use the Katakhal Embankment and the road connecting Durga Chowmuhani to the backside of Pragati road of Agartala until further notice.

According to a notification issued by the Office of the District Magistrate, West Tripura, the two routes have become highly vulnerable due to the continuous rainfall. Authorities warned that the roads are at risk of embankment failure, severe water logging, and other weather-related dangers, making them unsafe for both pedestrians and vehicles.

The advisory has been issued under Sections 26, 30, and 34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, in the interest of public safety. Residents, commuters, and vehicle operators have been strongly advised to avoid these routes and use alternative roads until conditions improve. The administration has also urged everyone to strictly follow directions issued by the competent authorities.

District Magistrate and Collector Dr. Vishal Kumar, appealed for public cooperation, stating that the temporary restrictions are necessary to ensure the safety of citizens. The administration expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the advisory.

The notification has also been forwarded to the police and other departments for necessary action and wide public awareness through print, digital, and public announcement platforms.
