A 32-year-old lawyer practicing at the Kailashahar Court under Unakoti district was killed in a tragic road accident on Tuesday night after his motorcycle collided with a Bolero jeep near Darchoi while he was returning home.
The deceased has been identified as Biswajit Debbarma (32), a resident of Nepaltila. The accident occurred while he was travelling from Kailashahar to his residence.
Following the collision, Biswajit was rushed to Kumarghat Hospital in a critical condition. He was later referred to Unakoti District Hospital and subsequently to Silchar for advanced treatment. However, as his condition deteriorated further during the journey, he was taken to Dharmanagar District Hospital. Upon arrival, doctors declared him dead.
The untimely demise of the young advocate has sent shockwaves through the legal fraternity and the local community.
On receiving the tragic news, Karamcherra MLA Paul Dangshu, who was also a close friend of the deceased, rushed to Dharmanagar District Hospital to pay his last respects.
