4 killed and 5 injured in Egypt's capital city
Cairo/UNI: Four people were killed and five others wounded in a building collapse in Egypt's capital Cairo on Wednesday, the state-run Ahram newspaper reported.
All residents in the collapsed four-storey building, located in north Cairo's Hadaeq El-Qubbah district, belong to the same family.
The wounded have been transferred to a hospital for treatment, said the report, adding that the exact number of people trapped beneath the rubble is still unknown.
The public prosecutor has ordered an immediate investigation into the accident.
It was the seventh building to collapse in two months. In July, an old building collapsed in the same area, killing 13 people.
The accidents are now a staple in Egypt where large swathes of unlicensed apartment blocks are built by breaching the building regulations, Gulf News reports.
According to figures from the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics, 18 buildings have collapsed in Egypt, killing 30 people since the start of the year.
