Another top Iranian leader is dead? IDF’s explosive claim on Ali Larijani
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Tuesday claimed that Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council and a key figure in the country’s leadership, has been eliminated.
In a statement on X, the IDF described Larijani as “one of the most veteran and senior figures within the Iranian regime leadership” and a close associate of Ali Khamenei. The statement further alleged that Larijani played a direct role in overseeing the crackdown on recent anti-regime protests in Iran.

Iranian authorities have not confirmed his death so far.
Larijani, regarded as a top leader, has reportedly played a significant role in the country’s governance following the reported death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on February 28, allegedly in strikes carried out by the United States and Israel in Tehran. He was last seen publicly during a rally in Tehran on March 13.
Earlier in the day, the IDF also claimed that Gholamreza Soleimani, commander of Iran’s Basij paramilitary force, was killed in an overnight strike. According to reports, Soleimani was targeted at a recently established Basij camp, which had been set up after previous strikes hit several of the group’s headquarters. The operation reportedly also killed the Basij’s deputy commander and other senior officials.
These developments come amid escalating hostilities following the outbreak of conflict on February 28. Israeli and U.S. claims suggest that multiple senior Iranian leaders have been killed in recent strikes, including Ali Khamenei, although independent confirmation remains limited.
In response, Iran has reportedly launched retaliatory strikes targeting several cities across the Gulf region, further intensifying tensions and raising concerns about a broader regional conflict.
