According to local media reports, the attacks took place while the French capital was crowded with Christmas and year-end festivities.
The three victims were stabbed at separate locations along Line 3 of the Paris metro network, which runs through central Paris, the public transport authority RATP told the AFP news agency.
The incidents occurred between 4:15 pm and 4:45 pm local time at or near the République and Arts-et-Métiers metro stations. Emergency services responded quickly and provided medical treatment to the victims.
Using surveillance camera footage and mobile phone tracking, police identified and located the 25-year-old suspect in the Val-d’Oise department, north of Paris, prosecutors told Le Monde.
