The initiative was observed under the aegis of the All Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Workers Union.

At a meeting held at Bakhtiar Labour Hall, the workers demanded the prime minister and the federal energy minister take measures for raising the productivity of power companies instead of their proposed privatisation, reported Dawn News.

They also demanded that all vacant posts should be filled up to ensure electricity workers do not need to work extra on weekends.

They urged the government to resolve the issues of Balochistan workers amicably.

The meeting was addressed by union secretary general Khurshid Ahmad, Haji Younas, Osama Tariq, Rana Shakoor, Muzaffar Mateen and others, the Pakistani newspaper reported.
