Sri Lankan MP V Radhakrishnan says 60 percent of tourists visiting the Island Nation are from India
Sri Lankan MP V Radhakrishnan has said Indian tourists make up 60 percent of the tourists who visit the Island Nation.
He told ANI news agency that Colombo and New Delhi should get together and work in future, and Sri Lanka is now booming to get an economic reshuffle.
V Radhakrishnan said, “The two countries have a good relationship because of tourism… Sri Lanka depends on tourism. 60 per cent of the people come from India."
India and Sri Lanka have a legacy of intellectual, cultural, religious and linguistic interaction and the relationship between two countries is more than 2500 years old.
Trade and investment have grown and there is cooperation in the fields of development, education, culture and defence, read the Ministry of External Affairs website.
Both countries share a broad understanding of major issues of international interest.
In recent years, significant progress in implementation of developmental assistance projects for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and disadvantaged sections of the population in Sri Lanka has helped further cement the bonds of friendship, read the Indian Embassy in Sri Lanka's website.
