Trump claims US ‘totally obliterated’ military targets on Iran’s Kharg Island
US President Donald Trump on Saturday claimed that American forces had carried out a major bombing raid targeting Iranian military facilities on Kharg Island, a key oil export hub in the Persian Gulf.
Posting on Truth Social, Trump said the United States Central Command had executed one of the most powerful bombing raids in the history of the Middle East.
“Moments ago, at my direction, the United States Central Command executed one of the most powerful bombing raids in the History of the Middle East, and totally obliterated every MILITARY target in Iran’s crown jewel, Kharg Island,” he wrote.
Trump added that the United States deliberately avoided striking the island’s oil infrastructure.
“Our weapons are the most powerful and sophisticated that the world has ever known but, for reasons of decency, I have chosen NOT to wipe out the oil infrastructure on the island,” he said.

The US president also warned Iran against disrupting shipping in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
“Should Iran, or anyone else, do anything to interfere with the free and safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, I will immediately reconsider this decision,” Trump said.
He further claimed that the US military had been turned into a “lethal, powerful, and effective force,” adding that Iran had “no ability to defend anything that we want to attack.”
“Iran will never have a nuclear weapon, nor will it have the ability to threaten the United States of America, the Middle East or, for that matter, the world,” he added.
Why Kharg Island is crucial?
According to Encyclopaedia Britannica, Kharg Island is a small coral island in Iran in the northern Persian Gulf, located about 55 km (34 miles) northwest of the port city of Bushehr.
The island functions as the terminal for nearly all of Iran’s oil exports and has a loading capacity of roughly 7 million barrels per day, making it one of the most strategically important energy hubs in the region.
