Tulsi Gabbard sounds alarm: Islamism is incompatible with American freedom
US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has issued a strong statement on Islamist ideology, describing it as a potential threat to American values and democratic freedoms.
Speaking at a public event, a video of which has since gone viral on social media, Gabbard warned that what she termed “Islamism” could undermine individual liberty and democratic principles in the United States.
Referring to developments in certain US cities, Gabbard was quoted by India Today as saying, “Patterson, New Jersey is proud to call themselves the first Muslim city.”
“They are working to implement these Islamic principles, forced on people either through laws or violence,” she said.
Gabbard further claimed that such developments were not hypothetical. “This is already underway in places like Houston. This is not something that may possibly happen. It is already happening here, within our borders,” she added.
Emphasising her concerns, she said, “The bottom line is this: when we talk about the threat of Islamism, there is no such thing as individual freedom or liberty.”
According to Gabbard, the ideology she was referring to is “fundamentally incompatible with our American foundation of freedom.”
The video clip of her remarks has since gone viral, drawing both praise and sharp criticism across social media platforms.
Who is Tulsi Gabbard?
