The Indian delegation was led by Dr. Suresh Kumar, Joint Secretary (WANA), Ministry of External Affairs and the Syrian delegation was led by Ayman Raad, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Syria.

"The two sides also exchanged perspectives on important regional and global issues of mutual interest," read the statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs.

India and Syria enjoy warm and friendly relations based on historic and civilizational ties.

India-Syria relationship

As per MEA, India has been a keen developmental partner for Syria and is also actively involved in the capacity building of the Syrian youth.

Both the countries also cooperate on various multilateral forums.

"The discussions held today will contribute in further strengthening of India-Syria bilateral partnership," the Indian Ministry said.

After the meeting, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal posted on X: "The 6th India-Syria Foreign Office Consultations (FoC), co-chaired by Dr. Suresh Kumar, Joint Secy (WANA) & Mr. Ayman Raad, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Syria were held in New Delhi today."

"The meeting reviewed India-Syria bilateral relations and discussed ways to further strengthen it," he said.
