Rahul Gandhi's portfolio: Assets exceeding Rs 20 crore include 25 stocks, 7 mutual funds worth over Rs 8 cr

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi disclosed assets exceeding Rs 20 crore in his election declaration, media reports said.


The document submitted to the Election Commission of India revealed movable assets valued at Rs 9,24,59,264, with investments in mutual funds and stocks constituting roughly 90%, totalling Rs 8,16,94,091, reported India Today based on Rahul Gandhi’s election affidavit.

Gandhi, 53, is a Congress MP from Wayanad. He holds shares in 25 publicly listed companies, from established blue-chip stocks to promising small-cap ventures.

As of March 15, 2024, the aggregate worth of his stock holdings crossed Rs 4.33 crore.

Gandhi's largest stock holding of 4,068 shares is in a small-cap company called Suprajit Engineering, which had a market value exceeding Rs 16.65 lakh as of March 15. However, it has since risen to over Rs 17 lakh as of April 4.

It's worth noting that the stock has appreciated by over 20% in the past year, trading at Rs 420.40 per share on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) at 2:26 pm, said the report.

Among his other major stock holdings in terms of volume are ITC and ICICI Bank. Gandhi owns 3,093 shares in ITC valued at Rs 12.96 lakh and 2,299 shares in ICICI Bank valued at Rs 24.83 lakh. Both market values are as of March 15, the report said, citing the declaration submitted to the EC.

As of March 15, Gandhi's ownership of 1,474 stocks in Pedilite Industries amounted to Rs 42.27 lakh, marking his largest holding in terms of market value. Other notable holdings included Asian Paints (Rs 35.29 lakh), Bajaj Finance (Rs 35.89 lakh), Nestle India (Rs 35.67 lakh), and Titan Company (Rs 32.58 lakh).

His portfolio also encompasses stocks such as Alkyl Amines, Deepak Nitrite, Divi's Laboratories, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and Britannia Industries.

Furthermore, Gandhi has investments totalling Rs 3.81 crore across seven mutual funds, including small and mid-cap ones.

His most substantial investment was in HDFC Small Cap regular (growth) with a market value of Rs 1.23 crore, followed by ICICI Prudential Regular Savings Fund with a market value of Rs 1.02 crore. Data reveals that the Net Asset Value (NAV) of HDFC Small Cap regular (growth) scheme has increased by 51.85% in the past year.

Gandhi's investment portfolio also includes HDFC Hybrid Debt Fund (G), valued at Rs 79 lakh. Additionally, he holds investments exceeding Rs 19 lakh each in HDFC Mid-Cap Opportunities Fund - Direct Plan, ICICI Prudential Equity & Debt Fund Growth, and Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund (Direct Plan). Moreover, he has invested in HDFC Smallcap direct plan (growth), totalling Rs 17 lakh, the report said, citing the affidavit.

Furthermore, Gandhi has also invested in sovereign gold bonds, holding 220 units of Sovereign Gold Bond 2020-21 valued at Rs 15.21 lakh as of March 15.

Apart from stocks and mutual funds, Rahul Gandhi's Public Provident Fund had a balance of Rs 61.52 lakh as of March 15.

In terms of immovable assets, Gandhi possesses properties valued at Rs 11.15 crore. Additionally, he declared holding Rs 55,000 in cash and a combined balance of Rs 26.25 lakh across his two bank accounts.
