Adequate supply of Petrol, Diesel and LPG across Tripura; no shortage fuel products
The supply of essential petroleum products including petrol, diesel, and LPG remains normal across the state and there are no reason for panic as the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs department is closely monitoring the daily stock and supply situation.
Addressing a press conference at department’s headquarters in Agartala on Saturday, special secretary of the department, Debapriya Bardhan said that LPG is currently being supplied to five districts from the Budhjungnagar LPG plant and to the remaining three districts from the Silchar plant.
He stated that sufficient quantities of oil are available at Indian Oil depots as well as at all petrol pumps across the state. Therefore, there is no reason for panic buying or concerns about a shortage of LPG cylinders. He appealed to all consumers of the state not to engage in panic purchasing.
Regarding prices, he said that the cost of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder is Rs 2,587, while a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder is priced at Rs 1,073.50.
He further added that, as per government guidelines, distributors are ensuring adequate supply once bookings are made. The department is maintaining strict vigilance to keep the prices of essential commodities like petrol, diesel, and LPG stable.
Currently, around 70,000 PNG (Piped Natural Gas) connections exist in the state, and efforts are underway to increase this number further. The Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited has expanded digital applications, with 80–95% coverage in urban areas and about 90% in rural areas.
He further said that if the hoarding of these essential items being noticed by the department, then they will take stringent action against errant persons and has also urged the consumers of the state to keep vigilant and if they noticed any kind of hoarding of fuel products, should immediately inform the department.
