Bangladeshi youth arrested for illegal border crossing in Kadamtala, court sent him 14-days J C
Amidst high voltage election process across Tripura, police under Kadamtala police station in North Tripura district have arrested a Bangladeshi youth on charges of illegal infiltration along the India–Bangladesh border. The accused was produced before the district court on Friday after completion of all legal formalities.
Police sources said that a joint patrol was conducted on Thursday by personnel of Kadamtala police station and jawans of the 97th Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) in the border areas. During the joint patrolling, one individual was spotted entering Indian territory under suspicious circumstances in the Sonaicherri- Natuntila area of Satsangam Gram Panchayat, which falls under Kadamtala police station. He was immediately detained by the security forces.
During preliminary interrogation, the detainee was identified as Russel Ahmed (22), son of late Yasin Ali, a resident of Goalbari area under Juri police station in Moulvibazar district of Bangladesh. Initial investigation revealed that he had illegally crossed the international border and entered the state.
The BSF later handed him over to Kadamtala police station. A case has been registered against him under Section 3 of the Passport (Entry into India) Act, 1920. The case has been registered as Kadamtala PS Case No. 19/26.
On Friday, the accused was produced before the district court after due legal procedures and court sent him for 14-days jail custody. Police stated that the investigation is ongoing to ascertain whether any other person or organized network is involved in the incident.
