ECI’s mobile app to know candidate details

The Election Commission of India (ECI) in an unique step to know the candidate details including their background, criminal records, educational qualification has launched mobile app ‘Know Your Candidate (KYC)’.

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Tripura through a press statement said the Tripura assembly election-2023 is going to be held on February 16,  2023. Contesting candidates from different political parties submitted their nominations along with an affidavit from 21st January-30th  January,  2023. These affidavits include their background, criminal record (if any), educational qualifications, financial disclosures, and assets. All this data and the said affidavit is available in the Know Your Candidate (KYC) app and anyone can access this information about candidates using the ‘Know Your Candidate (KYC)’ app. This will help voters of Tripura to make an informed decision in the forthcoming Tripura General Election-2023.

The Election department said that in a democracy, citizens exercise their right to vote and express their opinions. Each vote holds significance and it is the duty of the voter to make an informed decision by choosing the appropriate candidate. By utilizing tools like the 'Know Your Candidate' app, voters can gain a clear understanding of the candidates and thus strengthen the foundation of democracy.

With  Know Your Candidate app, the citizens of Tripura can find information about the 259 candidates contesting in the forthcoming Tripura Assembly Election, 2023 along with the details of all candidates such as their background, criminal record (if any), educational qualifications, financial disclosures, and assets.

Know Your Candidate (KYC) app which provides voters with a comprehensive view of the candidates contesting in the upcoming Tripura Elections-2023. The ‘Know Your Candidate’ app is easy to use and accessible to everyone. It can be accessed through the official website of the Election Commission of India or it can be downloaded from the Google play store. The platform has been designed to be user-friendly, with an intuitive interface and easy-to-understand language.

The main objective of the Know Your Candidate (KYC) app is to promote transparency and accountability in the electoral process. The Know Your Candidate app will play a vital role in helping voters make informed decisions and ensure free and fair elections, said CEO office and  requested all citizens of Tripura to take  advantage  of  this  Know Your Candidate (KYC) app and make the most of their right to vote.
