Ahead of the forthcoming Village Committee (VC) elections under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) and Nagar Panchayat elections, the state government in a major reshuffle in the police administration, transferred seven IPS officers and 40 Tripura Police Service (TPS) officers.

According to an official notification issued by the General Administration (GA) Department, the transfers cover several key wings, including Cyber Crime, Vigilance, the State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB), the Mobile Task Force (MTF), and Agartala city police.

As per the new transfer order, Unakoti Superintendent of Police (SP) Sudhambika R has been transferred as SP of Cyber Crime, replacing Nabadwip Jamatia, who has been posted as Commandant of the 15th Battalion of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR).

Sankar Debnath has been transferred as SP, Economic Offences, while Priya Madhuri Majumder has been posted as SP of the Vigilance, replacing Jeremia Darlong, who has been transferred as Commandant of the Counter Insurgency and Anti-Terrorism (CIAT) School in Dhalai district.

Kishan Kumar, the incumbent  Commandant of the CIAT School, has been transferred as SP of the State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB). Mina Kumari Debbarma has been transferred as SP (Serious Crime), while IPS officer D. Kudiarasu has been posted as Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl. SP), Sepahijala district.

In another significant posting, Chandan Saha, Additional SP of the Special Branch, has been given charges of SP of the Mobile Task Force (MTF), the specialized unit responsible for detecting and apprehending illegal infiltrators from Bangladesh and additional charges of STF and additional SP of Special Branch.

The reshuffle also includes the appointment of Pannalal Sen as the new Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Sadar subdivision, replacing Debaprasad Roy, who has been transferred as SDPO, Khowai.

Earlier, on July 15, the state government had also transferred the Officers-in-Charge (OCs) of seven police stations across Tripura, including  OCs  for West Agartala and East Agartala  police station, as part of a broader administrative exercise ahead of the local body elections.
