Natunnagar shootout incident: Two more arrested, arms recovered

After passing almost one month, the Agartala city police on Friday managed to arrest two remaining accused and recovered the firearms used in the sensational shootout incident held in front of Sonargaon Dhaba located at Airport road, Natun Nagar under West Agartala PS held on October 25th night.

Addressing a press conference here at West Agartala police station SDPO (Sadar) Ajoy Kumar Das accompanied by OC of the police station Jayanta Kumar Dey said that based on secret information, a contingent of police raided at Chinaihani area near Agartala airport in the wee hours of Friday and managed to arrest two remaining accused persons identified as Sudip Kar alias Akash and Sukanta Das involved in the shootout incident, in which two members of the negotiation rival gang suffered bullet injuries.

Police also recovered a sophisticated pistol with a magazine and a live round under the possession, which was used to during shootout incident Prabhakar Ghosh (40) of Usha Bazar, who was the secretary of Bharat Ratna Club and another assailant identified as Santosh Das (35) of Usha Bazar under Airport police station.

SDPO said that after arrest of two miscreants, police had continued the raids and search operation to nab remaining miscreants involved in the incident and in the wee hours of Friday, the finally managed to arrested them against an FIR under section 326,307 , 34 of IPC and 27(2) of Arms Act, registered at West Agartala police station.

Das said that police on Friday forwarded both accused persons to a local court with police remand appeals to get their details and mystery of the shootout incident.

Miscreants had fired rounds of bullets and as a result, two youths identified as Haripada Das (28) and Sanjoy Das (29) suffered bullet injuries, who are the members of other gangs involved in negotiations.

Das said that the modus operandi of the shootout was cleared and the entire mystery of the incident due to inner fights among two gangs of negotiation mafias.
