SKM’s mass rally held in Agartala protesting politics of union govt

The Samyukta Kissan Morcha along with other parts of the country on Saturday organized mass protest rally in Agartala, which started from Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan and when thousands of All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) and Samyukta Kisan Morcha supporters marching towards Raj Bhavan, police stopped their procession at Circuit House area of the city, where leaders addressed the gathering.

Agartala: The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) - has hit the streets of Agartala on Saturday last, following which a delegation of the group submitted a memorandum at Raj Bhavan towards the President of the country with their seven point charter of demands.

While addressing the gathering the convener of Samyukta Kisan Morcha, Tripura Pabitra Kar condemning betrayal politics of BJP government said that the union government continuously deprived the farmers of the country. The famers’ community waiting for last ten months, and the BJP government will maintain their commitments, which were assured during the long farmers movement.

“We have seven demands nationally - implementing the minimum support price law, taking back the Electricity Act, withdrawing the fake cases against farmers and sacking Union minister Ajay Mishra Teni - his son has been accused of running his SUV over farmers in UP’s Lakhimpur Kheri - immediately. The fake kissan beema yogana must be scrapped and a better one must be made,” said Kar.

The farm leader claimed that the Centre has not fulfilled the major demand of MSP guarantee to farmers even after two years.

Kar said that the government betrayals have no rights to stay in power and people through their united fights will definitely oust the BJP governments both from state as well as from centre. Highlighting the condition of the state's farmers, Kar said that farmers are not getting any support from the agriculture department and they handed over the farm markets to corporations. “The present situation must be changed and by changing the government we have to change the policies for farmers,”, said Kar.

The state president of AIKS and veteran CPI(M) leader Aghore Debbarma, Ganamukti Parishad’s (GMP) general secretary Radhacharan Debbarma, CPI(M) MLA and former Minister Bhanula Saha  and other farmers leaders also addressed the gathering. They all through a united voice have also appealed to the people to oust the BJP government from state to protect the rights of farmers.
