Tax collection of Tripura increases 25 %: Jishnu

As part of Prati Ghare Sushasan (good governance in every house) campaign and to acknowledge the contribution of best tax-payers of the state, a felicitation programme for taxpayers was held at Pragna Bhavan in Agartala on Wednesday.

As part of Prati Ghare Sushasan (good governance in every house) campaign and to acknowledge the contribution of best tax-payers of the state, a felicitation programme for taxpayers was held at Pragna Bhavan in Agartala on Wednesday.

Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma inaugurated the event in the presence of Secretary (Finance) Brijesh Pandya, Chief Commissioner of Taxes Rakhi Biswas and representatives of all other stakeholders, organized by the Taxes organization under the aegis of the Department of Finance. A total of 30 best taxpayers have been felicitated by the department.

While addressing the gathering Deputy Chief Minister said that the taxpayers are the key players in moving the state forward and the MSMEs are the major contributors to the growth and development in the country. The revenue comes from the taxpayers’ playing a vital role for pushing up the state towards the best and self-reliant, said Dev Varma.

Dy Chief Minister Jishnu Devvarma who is also the Finance Minister of the state said that honest payment of tax to the government is the quality and characteristic of a good citizen. The taxpayers are the key partners of development in the state to make Tripura self-reliant. The backbone of the economy of the state is the businessmen and taxpayers, if their business keeps flourishing, the progress of the state also continues.

The revenue collected from taxes often plays a significant rule for the development of the state, said secretary of Finance department Brijesh Pandey and congratulating all the honest tax payers, he added that simplification and user friendly tax policy are now getting its results as now tax collection has increased at 25 % better results with an increase of 25% in tax collection. Tax collection is done through negotiation with a friendly approach towards the trading community, said Pandey.

During the programme Chief Commissioner of Taxes Rakhi Biswas delivered a welcome address and highlighted the objectives of the day’s programme.

During the programme 30 best taxpayers including the best tax-payer of the state Biplab Roy were felicitated by the department.
