The residents of Ishan Chandra Para in Ambassa under Dhalai district  staged a road blockade on the Ambassa-Gandacherra road at the Arai Mile area, demanding immediate restoration of electricity supply.

According to local residents, the area has remained without electricity for over a month. Despite repeatedly informing the concerned authorities, no action was taken to resolve the issue. Frustrated by the prolonged power outage, villagers blocked the road at around 10 am, bringing traffic on the vital Ambassa-Gandacherra route to a complete standstill and causing significant inconvenience to commuters. The blockade also severely affected the weekly market at Ambassa.

Upon receiving information, personnel from Ambassa police station rushed to the spot and attempted to persuade the protesters to withdraw the blockade. However, the agitating residents made it clear that they would not lift the protest until responsible officials from the Electricity Department arrived and provided a concrete assurance regarding restoration of power supply.

Later, senior officials of the Ambassa Electricity Department reached the protest site and held detailed discussions with the villagers. During the meeting, the officials assured the residents that a new transformer would be installed at the earliest and that electricity supply would be restored soon.

Trusting the assurance given by the department, the protesters withdrew the blockade at around 12 noon. Following nearly two hours of disruption, vehicular movement on the Ambassa-Gandacherra road returned to normal.

Residents of the area are now awaiting the implementation of the Electricity Department’s promise to restore power and bring relief to the affected households.
