A total of 64 voters from Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) are eligible and casted their votes to elect Congress president candidates Shashi Tharoor and Mallikarjun Kharge.

PCC president Birajit Sinha said among the voters 63 voters casted their votes in TPCC office in Agartala and another voter and veteran party leader Gopal Roy cast his vote in Arunachal Pradesh. He said that the voting process started from 10 AM and continued up to 4 PM and voters cast their votes through a secret ballot. During the poll process Tripura Pradesh Congress’s working president Sushanta Chakraborty and Pancham Misra acted as election agents for both candidates.

AICC leader Abdul Hannan, the presiding officer for elections in Tripura said that the state’s ballot box has been sent to Delhi and counting will take place on October 19 and results will be declared the same day.

Hannan said AICC has set up 67 polling booths across the country 'Kharge vs Tharoor' fight, where the last electoral contest for the top post of the party took place in the year 2000 when Jitendra Prasada had suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Sonia Gandhi.

For the Congress president election, Shashi Tharoor and Mallikarjun Kharge are the party's two contestants and the counting of ballots will be taken up on October 19 and results will be declared as to who between the two candidates, octogenarian Mallikarjun Kharge or shashi Tharoor, will win the election.
