A solidarity meeting was organized in Agartala to commemorate the birth centenary of Fidel Castro, the Cuban revolutionary leader and one of the prominent figures in the global struggle against imperialist aggression and domination.

The programme was held at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, where speakers discussed various aspects of Castro’s revolutionary life, political ideology and his long-standing opposition to imperialism.

The event was attended by the Cuban Ambassador, Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury, former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, and representatives of several political and social organizations.

Speakers said Fidel Castro was not merely a revolutionary leader of Cuba but also a symbol of the struggle for the rights, freedom and dignity of oppressed and exploited people across the world.

They highlighted the Cuban Revolution under Castro’s leadership, his firm anti-imperialist stance and his solidarity with liberation and justice movements in different parts of the world. Speakers also stressed the need for united efforts against imperialist aggression, wars and hegemonic policies in the contemporary world.

The solidarity meeting witnessed a significant gathering of political and social activists and supporters at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala. Paying tribute to Castro’s ideals and struggles, speakers recalled various aspects of his political life and contributions.

The programme also conveyed a message of international solidarity, peace and continued resistance against imperialism.
