The Army conducted the anti-infiltration operation in the Nowshera sector of the border district during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, the official told India Today.

Security forces recovered a large quantity of 'war-like' stores including two AK-47s and one pistol from the terrorists.

White Knight Corps (16 Corps) posted on X: "Based on inputs from intelligence agencies and @JmuKmrPolice regarding a likely infiltration bid, an anti-infiltration Operation was launched by #IndianArmy on the intervening night of 08-09 Sep 24 in general area Lam, #Nowshera."

White Knight Corps said a search operation is currently going on.

The infiltration attempt took place just days before Jammu and Kashmir will vote to elect a new assembly.

Election will be held in the region in three phases on September 18, September 25, and October 1.

Results will be declared on October 4.
